CONFEDERATE ANSWERS CALL: William Jones Dies Rather Suddenly: "William
Jones is Dead" is the news that reached Lebanon early Wednesday morning,
causing expressions of regret throughout the town. His death was very
unexpected even to members of his family, his health having been good up
to Monday afternoon when he was taken sick, death following in a few
hours. Mr. Jones resided east of Barnett and was between 65 and 70
years of age. He was a confederate soldier and was in some hard fought
battles, being a member of the 29th Virginia Regiment. His record for
citizenship was that of an exceptionally good man, always liberal with
his means in aiding in charity work. One by one the old confederate
soldier is joining the ranks of comrades who fell in battle.
